- Small Claims Tribunals: up to S$20,000, or S$30,000 if both parties agree.
- Magistrates' Court: up to S$60,000.
- District Court: up to S$250,000.
- General Division of the High Court: above S$250,000.
Small Claims Tribunals
The Small Claims Tribunals hear claims of up to S$20,000, or up to S$30,000 if both parties agree. Lawyers cannot appear for the parties there, and legal costs are generally not awarded.
A claim in the Small Claims Tribunals must be brought within two years of when it arose.
The State Courts: Magistrates' Court and District Court
The Magistrates' Court hears civil claims of up to S$60,000. The District Court hears claims of up to S$250,000. These limits are set by the State Courts Act.
The Supreme Court
Claims above S$250,000 are heard in the General Division of the High Court. Appeals go to the Appellate Division of the High Court or the Court of Appeal. The Singapore International Commercial Court also sits within the Supreme Court.
